1910's picture of the Railroad Hotel in Herman.  This building was built to serve as housing for railroad workers around 1900.  It then became the railroad depot agent's home and eventually the home for Charles Dantes who was Baraga County Sheriff in the 1920's

1920's

1920's picture of the old gasoline powered Grist Mill in Herman.  The building was moved to a new location and later became the Herman Post Office.

1930's

1930's picture of the old Haapala Home in Herman.  The building is traditional Finnish construction with the squared off logs and is a great example of the type of houses built by the Finns who settled in Baraga County at the turn of the century.

1940's

1940’s picture of the Community of Herman.  The buildings in the picture from left to right are the Herman Co-op Store & Warehouse, the old DSS&A depot (small building behind the warehouse), the old Pool Hall, the Community Hall, the Co-op Store manager's house and the Charles Dantes residence.  This picture was dates 1942.
